House of Representatives passes TRC Bill

Kathmandu: The TRC Bill on Transitional Justice has been passed by the House of Representatives (HoR).

The HoR passed the bill to amend the Commission for Investigation, Truth and Reconciliation Act 2071 presented by the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya.

The Speaker Devraj Ghimire announced the bill being passed, after the discussion on the bill on Wednesday. Now, the bill goes to the National Assembly. It will return to the HoR after passed from the National Assembly.

After being authenticated by Speaker Ghimire, it will go to President Ram Chandra Paudel for verification. The law will be made after being certified by President Paudel.

Likewise, there are more than 64000 complaints in both the Truth Reconciliation and Disappearance Investigation Commission.

The bill was registered at the Parliament Secretariat on March 9, 2 023 (Falgun 25, 2079).
