11 killed in Philippine’s Chinatown fire

Kathmandu: A fire ripped through a building have killed 11 people in the Philippine capital’s Chinatown.

According to the city’s fire bureau, crews from 14 fire trucks took two hours to control the blaze in Manila’s Binondo district on Friday, where rescue personnel later found the bodies of 11 people inside the five-storey mixed-use building.

The cause of the blaze and the identities of the victims were not immediately known.  According to an APF  journalist, by noon mortuary vehicles were waiting on the street to take the bodies away.

Likewise, the building hosted shops on the ground level and residential units on the upper floors.
