Man dead in Balkhu River flood

Kathmandu: A man died in a flood, that occurred in Balkhu River last night.

Police said that the dead body of Ram Swarup Mahato (45 years old) was recovered from the river near Balkhu.

The Spokesperson of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Dinesh Raj Mainali, said that Mahato was residing in the squatter settlement in the Balkhu area.

Likewise, the heavy rain that happened last night triggered flooding in the Bagmati River and all its tributaries including in Hanumante, Manohara, Dhobikhola, Godawari, Bishnumati, Balkhu, and others.

Mainali said that some of the settlements on the riverbanks in the Kathmandu Valley are also inundated.
