U.S. President Joe Biden tests positive for COVID-19

Kathmandu: U.S. President Joe Biden has tested positive for Covid-19. The White House has said President Biden has been suffering mild symptoms.

According to the BBC, Biden’s press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre said the US president is vaccinated and boosted. 81-year-old Biden was seen visiting supporters in Las Vegas and even spoke at an event on Wednesday. Later, he canceled his campaign speech scheduled for the night.

The illness comes as he faces increasing pressure to step aside because of his age. It is not the first time that Biden tested positive for COVID-19.  He tested positive for COVID-19 twice before.

The president’s doctor, Kevin O’Connor, said that Biden presented with upper respiratory symptoms, including a runny nose and a cough, and was given his first dose of Paxlovid.

Dr O’Connor said that he felt fine during his first event of the day but later tested positive.

The President used the social media platform X to thank everyone for “the well wishes.” He said that hee would “work to get the job done for the American people” while in recovery.
