Kathmandu: Herbs Production and Processing Company Limited (HPPCL) carries out the cultivation, collection, and processing of various herbs found in Nepal through its various branches. HPPCL has been producing various medicines and oils in its processing unit.

Nepal has the potential of 2,000 MAPs (Medicinal and Aromatic Plants) and non-timber forest products (NTFPs). Nepal has also been exporting such herbs to neighbouring countries, including China and India.

HPPCL was established in 1981 A.D (2038 Bikram Sambat) under the supervision of the Government of Nepal. HPPCL is the first Nepali company to harvest the country’s MAPs and produce medicinal extracts and essential oils for pharmaceutical, food, beauty, and wellness industries in Nepal and abroad.

The company also owns about 500 hectares of land in Tarahara, Belbari, Tamagadhi, Mahendranagar, and Tikapur for the cultivation of MAPs. to make good use of such herbs.’ Sancho’ is the main product of the company. HPPCL uses modern technology to manufacture the product.

Along with Sancho, the company has been producing balm, pain relief oil, hand sanitiser, and Shilajit. Similarly, the company also manufactures essential oils having fragrances.
