No leaders from Dalit community in Oli’s cabinet; Name of Bishwokarma and Pariyar removed turn by turn

Kathmandu: The CPN (UML) Chairperson formed a 22-member committee just after becoming the Prime Minister. But, not even one leader belongs to the Dalit category.

The name of Chabbi Lal Bishwokarma, who has also become CPN (UML) Secretary, was on the list till Sunday. But, his name was removed on Monday.

Bishwokarma had won the election from Rupandehi Constituency Number 1 even if powerful leaders like Shankar Pokarel were defeated in the elections. But, his name was removed. It has been heard that the name of Bishwokarma was removed in the process of balancing the powers among various geographies.

Likewise, the name of Jiwan Pariyar, from Nepal Congress, was also on the list till Monday morning. But, at last, his name was removed. His name was included in the Dr. Shekar Koirala and Gagan Kumar Thapa faction. But, the leaders have chosen to remain silent regarding the matter.

However, the Dalit Activists have started protesting against such practices. They coined the cabinet, without Dalits, as practice as being unconstitutional and have been criticizing the cabinet on social media platforms.

Also, there are only two female ministers in the cabinet-Minister for Foreign Affairs Aarju Rana Deuba and Minister for Education Bidhya Bhattarai. This has also raised the question regarding inclusiveness in the cabinet.

The failure of following the principle of inclusiveness while making the cabinet has make the formation quite controversial and questionable.
