Finanace Minister Pun: Have worked to create hope on economy

Kathmandu: The outgoing Finance Minister, Barshaman Pun, has said that the coming fiscal year’s budget has charted out the country’s development prospects and roadmap of the economy.

At a farewell meeting with the officials of the Finance Ministry on Sunday, Pun termed his four-month-long ministerial job as satisfying and vowed to cooperate with the upcoming finance minister to bring about reforms to the country’s economy based on his experiences and lessons learnt.

On the occasion, the Maoist Centre leader Pun said the coming fiscal year’s budget has programmes to revitalize the economy and create hope in the private sector and youth.

‘I have brought the budget to create some hope. I am satisfied with the tenure of four months and one week,’ Pun shared.

Likewise, he said that the coming fiscal year’s budget is owned by several stakeholders since it was prepared in a participatory process. He was hopeful of the implementation of the budget and said it is not as ambitious as that of the past.

Pun stated that the budget has given high priority to the information technology sector though agriculture, hydropower, tourism and production sector are also prioritized.

‘We have our competitive capacity in information technology sector also due to our geographical location,’ Pun viewed.
