Road blacktopped long after opening of track

Kathmandu: A decade and a half after opening the track, the road of Beni Municipality-6, Bansbot in Myagdi district has been blacktopped after using reinforced cement concrete.

The road was blacktopped 17 years after the track was opened in the Bansbot area under the Arthunge-Pulachaur-Bhutpani road project of Beni municipality. Engineer at the municipality, Dipesh KC informed the contract of Rs. 5.65 million was signed with the Shramjibi Nirman Sewa for the construction of the road.

The Gandaki province government had appropriated a conditional grant of Rs 5 million and Beni municipality earmarked Rs 3 million for the same, he shared. Before blacktopping, the road was widened, drains were constructed and the wall was built towards the corner. The director of the construction company, Prakash Baniya further informed.

Durga Dutta Poudel, a farmer of Bansbot, said that the road has been upgraded to ease the movement. Poudel, who is also a cattle farmer, said that with the improvement of the road, it used to take 30 minutes to reach Beni from Bansbot earlier, but now the journey has been reduced to 10 minutes. Locals demanded up-gradation of the road at upper Beni community, Kurilakharka, and Arthunge ode.

The road connects the settlements of wards no. 6, and 5 of Beni municipality and ward no. 1 of Mangala rural municipality to the district headquarters of Beni. Another project to upgrade the Ekpate, Abaichaur, and Purundi sections of the Beni-Pulachaur road and blacktop the Sangamchowk to the Hulakchowk section of Beni is also in the process of completion.
