Kathmandu: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has said the investigations of the gold smuggling cases of the recent time have been completed.
Organizing a press conference on Monday, CIB published the investigation report. CIB Chief DIG Shyamlal Gayawali said that the investigation reached its conclusion after 4 months of hard work and continuous efforts.
DSP Sundar Tiwari, who led the investigation in the field said that a large amount of smuggling was also discovered after the 60 kg of gold was seized.
According to DSP Tiwari, various groups smuggling 60 kgs of gold smuggled a total of 3194 kg of gold. CIB said that the price of gold was more than 30 billion rupees (i.e. 30 arba 82 crore and 22 lakh rupees).
CIB arrested 25 people, among which 24 people are in custody and some are still absconding in the gold smuggling case. Nepal, India, and China are involved in the smuggling of gold.
Likewise, 1 Nepali, Gumbu Sherpa, committed suicide during the investigation. He used to contact with the Chinese to smuggle gold to Nepal. His mobile played a crucial role in the investigation of the case.
