Kathmandu: Farmers are busy planting paddy.

With the beginning of the monsoon season, farmers have started enjoying paddy plantations.

Usually, the paddy plantation begins before the month of Asar (mid-June to mid-July)in most parts of Nepal. However, the Kath premises of Kathmandu Valley are fully dependent on monsoon rain for the beginning of the paddy plantation.

The farmers of this area are busy planting paddy nowadays. They are not even able to hire the workers for the plantation. Hence, farmers, along with their family members, are enjoying the paddy plantation.

Likewise, farmers across the nation have celebrated the 21st National Paddy Day on Saturday. The days, after Asar 15, are taken as favorable times for planting paddy.

This day is also celebrated as the Ropai Jatra. And there is a tradition of even eating Dahi and Chiura (Curd and Beaten Rice) on this day.
