Kathmandu: Afghanistan has entered the semifinal of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh by 8 runs in the final match of the Super Eight, through the DLS method, at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St. Vincent on Tuesday.
With this, the journey of Australia even ended. Afghanistan added 2 points and got promoted to number 2 in the points table to enter the semifinals. India defeated Australia on Monday to enter the semifinals.
Now, Afghanistan and South Africa will compete in the first semifinal, and England and India will compete in the second semifinal on Thursday.
Bangladesh failed to chase the target of 114 runs (as per the DLS method). Bangladesh was packed up in 17.5 overs. Litton Das was unbeaten at 54 runs. Despite the amazing performance by Das, the team failed to qualify for the semifinals. Naveen-ul-Haq and Rashid Khan took 4 wickets each for Afghanistan.
In the first innings, Afghanistan scored 115 runs with a loss of 5 wickets. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 43 runs for the team. Rishad Hossain took 3 wickets for Afghanistan.
The final of the T20 World Cup is scheduled for Saturday.
