Kathmandu: Nepal Samajwadi Party Chairperson and Former Chairperson Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has objected to being coined as an Indian agent.

Dr. Bhattarai expressed his dissatisfaction with coining him as an Indian agent as he was the one who initiated the Eminent Persons’ Group (EPG) on Nepal-India relations to rewrite the treaties with India.

Addressing the anniversary of the Nepal Samajwadi Party on Wednesday, Dr. Bhattarai said that the nation was not developing as he, who tried to resolve problems with India, was called an agent but leaders, who completely lay down in front of India for chair, are treated as a patriot. He said power-craving leaders saw me as an Indian agent.

Similarly, Dr. Bhattarai said that he joined the communist party to end the monarchy and left the party after the accomplishment of the aim. He said that the nation required an alternative political power to repeal unequal treaty agreements with India.
