Mayor Balen Shah's supporters oppose Department of Roads' work in New Road (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu: A dispute has taken place between the Department of Roads’ Workers and Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra “Balen” Shah’s supporters.

After clearing the parking lot, Mayor Shah began widening the footpath by reducing the road in New Road. However, the Department of Roads gave an ultimatum to KMC on 29 May (Jestha 16) to restore the road within 2 days.

The Department of Road began to restore the section of the road on Monday, which was being expanded as a footpath by the KMC.

After the Department of Road Workers started to cover the pitch, KMC Metro Police and Supporters obstructed the work resulting in a dispute. Nepal Police even reached the site.
