Kathmandu: The lawmakers of the main opposition party Nepali Congress and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have obstructed the meeting of the parliament.
They obstructed the meeting demanding the formation of a parliamentary inquiry committee against Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane in the cooperative fraud case.
After NC and RSP’s lawmakers stood up at the beginning of the house session, Speaker Ghimire gave time to Nepali Congress whip Sushila Thing to express her opinion.
Lawmaker Thing said,’If there was anyone else in Rabi’s place, there would have been an investigation, the law would have been applied. But did the investigation stop because of Rabi Lamichhane? Doesn’t the government need to answer?’
Similarly, she said that billions of money has been embezzled in name of cooperative and the demonstration of cooperative victims by claiming that 1billion (1 arba) rupees of illegal money from Surya Darshan Cooperative was transferred to Gorkha Media Group.
Thing said,’After it found that money was brought, Wasn’t an action and investigation required against Rabi Lamichhane, who is the managing director of Gorkha Media?’
She even said that despite giving prior notice, the government adopted strategy to undermine the Nepali Congress.
