Gagan Thapa: Intention of PM Dahal is not right in VC appointment

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has accused Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ of confusing people in the selection procedure of the Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor.

Thapa, on Monday, said that the preparations were going on to appoint VC within a few days, based on political understandings rather than open competition. Thapa claimed that PM Dahal repeated his mistake despite the need for improvement in many sectors including choosing the University leadership.

He said that the intention of the Prime Minister was not right in the appointment procedure of VC. Thapa said PM Dahal can still apply a new procedure to appoint the VC to choose the qualified candidate.

Thapa said that he requested the PM to appoint the VC through open competition repeatedly but the process was reflecting the appointment based on political partitions.
