Nepal wins bilateral series against Canada

Kathmandu: The national cricket team of Nepal has won the three-match bilateral series against Canada.

Nepal defeated Canada by 4 wickets at Tribhuvan International Cricket Stadium on Saturday. With this, Nepal has taken a lead by 2-0 in the series.

Nepal succeeded in chasing the target of 286 runs with 29 balls remaining with a loss of 6 wickets. Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel exhibited an all-round performance for the victory. Rohit, along with Dev Khanal and Anil Shah, contributed half-centuries for the team.

Rohit scored 87, Dev 76, and Anil 50 runs. Rohit scored 87 out of 101 balls by smashing 9 boundaries and 4 sixes. Dev scored 76 out of 81 balls by scoring 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Anil Shah scored 50 runs out of 20 balls by hitting 7 fours and 3 sixes. Bhim Sharki scored 23, Pawan Sarraf scored 14, and Aasif Sheikh scored 10 runs for the team. Kushal Malla and Sompal Kami were unbeaten at 9 runs each. Ishwarjot Sohi and Harsh Thaker took 2 wickets each for Canada.

In the first innings, Canada won the toss and decided to bat first. Canada scored 285 runs out of 50 overs with the loss of 9 wickets. Aaron Jonson scored 65 and Navneet Dhaliwal 46 runs for the team. Kushal Malla and Captain Rohit Kumar Poudel took 2 wickets for the team. Surya Tamang, Sompal Kami, Aakash Chand, and Pawan Sarraf 1 wicket each for the team.

Aakash took the first wicket for Nepal in his debut match. He succeeded in breaking the 94-run partnership of Aaron and Navneet for the first wicket.

Likewise, Rohit succeeded to take two wickets in the single over. He took 2 wickets of Pargat Singh and Nicholas Kirton in 31.2 and 31.5 overs respectively. Rohit took 4 wickets in the first match of the series.

Nepal and Canada will compete against each other in the third match of the series on Monday.
