Kathmandu: Nepal has bagged an interesting victory in the first match against Canada in the Bilateral series.
Nepal defeated Canada by 7 runs at TU International Cricket Stadium on Thursday. With this, Nepal has led the series by 1-0.
Canada was packed by in 47.5 overs and scored only 217 runs. Nicholas Kirton scored 68 and Pargat Singh scored 50 for the team.
Canada had already scored 114 runs with the loss of 2 wickets, but, Captain Rohit created a breakthrough for Nepal after he succeeded in taking the wicket of Pargat Singh at 50 runs. Rohit took 4 wickets by bowling for 8.5 overs. He even took 2 maidens with a loss of 22 runs.
He was able to register an interesting win for Nepal. Rohit took the wickets of Shreyas Movva, Uday Bhagwan, and Ishworjot Sohi who were at 1, 6, and zero runs respectively.
In the first innings, Nepal was packed up in 50 overs and scored 224 runs. Kushal Bhurtel scored 35 runs for the team.
Aarif Sheik scored 38, Sompal Kami 27, Kushal Malla 20, Bhim Sharki 17, and Pawan Saraf 15 runs for the team. Surya Tamang was unbeaten at 10 runs. Lalit Rajbanshi was out making 1 run. Captain Rohit and Aasif Sheikh scored 8-8 runs for the team. Rijan Dhakal was out making 4 runs.
Uday Bhagwan took 3 wickets for Canada. The second match between Nepal and Canada will take place on Saturday.
