KMC Mayor Shah shows dissatisfaction with letter to stop parking in Dharahara

Kathmandu: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra ‘Balen’ Shah has expressed dissatisfaction with a letter to stop free parking services in Dharahara.

Mayor Shah wrote on his Facebook that it was shameless to get a letter mentioning ‘Dharahara is under construction. Stop Parking.’ Shah questioned how shameful it was to send a letter to KMC mentioning that it was under construction.

KMC had arranged a free parking service on January 28( Magh 14). However, Mayor Shah didn’t disclose anything about who sent the letter to stop the free parking service. He even raised questions to the then PM KP Sharma Oli, who inaugurated Dharahara 2 years and 9 months ago. The then PM Oli inaugurated Dharahara on 24 April 2021( Baisakh 11, 2078).

Mayor Shah mentioned the reply of the then PM Oli while expressing his dissatisfaction. Oli had said, ‘If the construction had not been completed, how would I have reached the 20th floor.’ Shah said that the letter must have been sent to those who have counter-questioned the construction of Dharahara.

Mayor Shah said that a national policy must be made to define the act of speeding up the inauguration of the structure, before the completion of the construction, just to put the name on the Inauguration plate as a new form of corruption.
