Special Court sentences 3 years imprisonment to former Lawmaker Tamang

Kathmandu: Former Lawmaker Ichcha Raj Tamang, whom the Special Court found guilty in a money laundering case on 21st January, has been sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment.

The joint bench of Special Court Chairperson Tek Narayan Kunwar and members Tej Narayan Rai and Murari Babu Shrestha finalized the Tamang’s punishment on Sunday. The bench fined Tamang 1.73 billion rupees and his wife Srijana Shakya Tamang 1.36 billion rupees. The court finalized 1 and a half years of imprisonment for Shrijana.

The Department of Money Laundering Investigation had filed the case, against Tamang, his wife Srijana Shakya, their two daughters Pratikshya and Pratistha, and his maternal-in-laws Keshav Lal Shrestha and his wife Bina Shrestha., in September 2022.
