Skirmish in CPN (UML) Dhading District Convention

Kathmandu: A discussion has resulted in a skirmish, during the representative nominations in the CPN (UML) Dhading District Convention.

Bagmati Province Chairperson Kailash Dhungel issued a press release regarding the incident on Sunday. According to the statement, one person has been injured in the event.

There had been a scuffle while presenting the documents in the closed session on Saturday evening. During the scuffle, Santosh Khanal broke his hand.

The tension was arising before the beginning of the closed session, since the evening of 2^nd February (Magh 19). The last district committee meeting, which took place at 7 p.m., revolved around tensions.

The incident occurred when the District Committee Chairperson proposed the proposal, including the documents relating to the closed sessions, policy-level decisions, name list of the leaders of the various committees, and 5% of nominees from the district committee.

Chairperson Dhungel said, ‘The District Committee Chairperson forcefully presented the proposal despite the participants demanding the discussion in the meeting. The atmosphere of the meeting changed after he tried to announce the decision on his own.’

The scuffle occurred among the District Committee members and leaders when the closed session was going on.
