Mayor Sampang impose ban on tobacco products in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City

Kathmandu: Dharan Sub-Metropolitian City Mayor Harka Sampang Rai has imposed a ban on the selling, distributing, and using of tobacco products in public places. Similarly, the court removed the same ban imposed in Kathmandu.

Mayor Sampang issued a public notice on Friday, mentioning the ban on tobacco products. The tobacco products cannot be sold, distributed, or used after 15 days. The meeting of the Municipal Executive decided to ban the use of tobacco products on 14 January (Poush 29 ). Mayor Sampang issued a notice, supporting the decision.

Municipal Police will confiscate and action could be taken as per the law if found storing, selling, or using cigarettes, tobacco, sulfa, raw tobacco packed in plastic, gutkha, khaini, or similar tobacco products in public places. The notice claims tobacco products increase the garbage in the city and negatively affect the health of the people.
