Police arrest youth for sharing photo of rape victim ‘Gaushala 26’

Kathmandu: Police have arrested a youth for attempting to make a photo of a rape victim of the Sandeep Lamichhane case public.

Police arrested Kesharman Rai( 32 years old) of Chichila Rural Municipality -3, Sankhuwasabha for sharing the photo of a girl as the rape victim.

The team of the Cyber Bureau of Police (CIB) arrested Rai in Sankhuwasabha and brought him to Kathmandu on Wednesday. The custody of Rai has been extended for 7  days.

According to a CIB source, a case will be filed against him in charge of attempting to reveal the identity of a victim. The case will further move ahead as per the Electronic Crime Act.

Just after the Kathmandu District Court found Sandeep Lamichchane guilty and sentenced him to 8 years imprisonment, some youths started to share the photos of a girl claiming her as ‘Gaushala 26.’
