Kathmandu: The 960th meeting of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Board of Directors has decided to reconnect the power supply of the industries.
The meeting decided to resume the power supplies of the industries. NEA had cut Dedicated and Trunk line transmission lines power to those industries, that didn’t pay the due bill of electricity.
Earlier the cabinet meeting gave direction to NEA to reconnect power lines to industries. In the same meeting, the cabinet decided to form an Inquiry Commission to solve the issue of dedicated and trunk line transmission lines.
The Board of Directors held the meeting on Friday after receiving a letter from the Ministry of Energy on Thursday.
Likewise, the council of ministers had appointed former judge of Supreme Court Girish Chandra Lal to solve the issue of dedicated and trunk line transmission on Tuesday. And decided to reconnect the interrupted power supply of the 24 industries, as per the recommendations of the commission, until the final decision.
The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation directed the NEA to reconnect the interrupted power supply, as per the decision of the cabinet, on Thursday. NEA director Ghising didn’t implement it even after receiving the letter.
Similarly, NEA started to cut off power lines of industries on 22 December 2023 (Poush 6, 2080) which led industrial operators and workers to demonstrate.
