Bamjan meditates in prison, asks to serve him separate cooked food

Kathmandu: Ram Bahadur Bamjan, who is in custody in the child sexual abuse and human disappearance case, has started meditating in the prison.

Bamjan started his meditation in Jaleshwor Prison, Mahotatri, on Friday. The Sarlahi District Court gave the verdict to keep Bamjan in custody on Thursday. He was placed in Mohatari as there was no prison in Sarlahi.

Earlier, police found that Bamjan was not doing his meditation. Bamjan performed meditation for a short period on Friday morning. One of the security personnel said, ‘ He meditated for a short time. Then he stopped.’

Bamjan is looking peaceful. He is speaking politely. Bamjan asked not to give him the food that was prepared for other prisoners. He even asked the administration not to use the same utensils for preparing and serving the food.

Sarlahi District Court orders to keep Bamjan in custody for investigation

One of the administration staff said, ‘He said to prepare separate vegetarian food for him. He asked for onion and garlic-free pulses and vegetables. If possible, he asked to cook his food separately.’

There are 5-6 hermit prisoners. The administration said that Bamjan would be served the food, which was prepared for other hermit prisoners.

He reached the Jaleshwor prison at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The team of CIB arrested Bamjan from his residence in Budhanilkantha on Tuesday evening. The Sarlahi District Court issued an arrest warrant against Bamjan on 21st Asar 2077 (July 5, 2020).
