Jhalnath Khanal: No leadership opportunity for youths; How can age limit be solution?

Kathmandu: UML(Socialist Party) leader Jhalnath Khanal has commented on the 70-year age limit in the party.

Khanal expressed his opinion that there should be no 70-year age limit in the party. He, while addressing the Centre Committee meeting, said that the provision regarding the age limit was not contextual.

‘We kept the age limit at 70 years old in the 9th Party’s Convention. But, we failed to give birth to a leader below that age, which is very saddening. Then, how can the age limit be a solution?’ Khanal said, ‘This convention needs to uplift the youngsters. Now, the provision of an age limit is not contextual. It has lost its context as it was not implemented.’

Khanal said that there must be a legislative amendment to reduce the central committee of the party.
