‘Human Trafficking’ in Visit Visa; Police arrest 32 people including Immigration Officer

Kathmandu: An investigation has found the officials of the Immigration Department and Nepal Airlines involved in human trafficking and smuggling in the name of foreign employment.

Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office Chief SSP Somendra Singh Rathore, during a press conference on Wednesday, made the arrested ones public.

Police arrested Immigration Department Officer Narbir Khadka, Nepal Airlines Officer Arwin Yadav, as well as NAC officials  Hom Pokharel, and Agent Padam Lama in the human trafficking case.

SSP Rathore said that the investigation was widened as some airline staffs took money and created fake return tickets and fake documents for changing visit visa to working just to complete the mandatory return ticket policy.

32 people have been already arrested in the scandal. Some of them are even consultancy operator. Police said that arresters were engaged in making fake certificates ,bank statement , police reports and fake visas for those who want to go abroad for employment. There was seen a coordination between consultancy and travel agency.

Human trafficking has been increasing in the name of foreign employment and visit visas. Trafficking is done for the purpose of fraud, prostitution, human organs plantation , forced labor and so on.

Smugglers have been targetting young men and women of rural parts to different countries by showing them the dream of foreign employment and huge amount of salaries. The investigation is going upon some airlines and their staffs.
