Passenger’s handbag catches fire at TIA

Kathmandu: One passenger’s handbag has caught fire at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

The handbag of a Chinese national, who was sitting in the waiting room with her boarding pass, caught fire on Sunday. Her flight was about to take off. She was heading towards China through Air China Air.

According to Airport Spokesperson Subash Shah, the power bank inside her handbag was short-circuited which resulted in the fire. He said that the passenger was safe.

The passenger has carried the bag on her back. She was using her iPad, which was connected to the power bank inside the bag.
