Verdict of Patan High Court in Fake Bhutanese Refugee Scandal

Kathmandu: The Patan High Court has ordered to keep 9 accused ones including Former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand and former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, in custody for further investigation on the fake Bhutanese refugee scandal.

The joint bench of judges Janak Panday and Prakash Kharel ordered to keep Tek Narayan Panday, Indrajit Rai, Keshav Prasad Dulal, Sanu Bhandari, Sagar Rai, Govinda Kumar Chaudhary, Sandesh Sharma, Ang Tawa Sherpa along with Khand and Rayamajhi in the custody

However, the opinion of both the judges differed in the case of former Home Minister Khand. The judges differed on whether to release Khand on 20 lakh rupees bail or keep him in custody. Thus, the hearing of the case will take place on another bench.

The court supported the decision of the Kathmandu District Court to keep 8 accused including Rayamajhi, Indrajit Rai, Keshav Dulal, and Ang Tawa Sherpa. Tanka Kumar Gurung, Keshav Tuladhar, Ashish Budhathoki, and Lakhmi Maharjan have been released on simple dates.
