Halted Fast Track Bus service comes into operation

Kathmandu: The halted Fast Track Bus service is coming into operation from today onwards.

The bus would provide service from Suryabinayak to Kathmandu. The bus service aims to attract the people lacking personal vehicles. A total of 36 vehicles would come into operation.

The roads have been colored in various sections again. New boards have been added. Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Prakash Jwala said that 11 buses were added to make the service more effective.

Minister Jwala said that the service was halted during Dashain-Tihar as the number of passengers would decline during the festive time. He said that the bus would operate in every three minutes in the peak hours of morning and evening.

The most interesting part of the service is the confusion about the actual expenses for resuming the service. The service came into operation on Constitution Day, 3rd Asoj, (20th September, 2023). It was said that  3 crore rupees were spent on the service at that time.

The concerned authority is unable to provide details regarding the expenses of the additional buses, boards, and painting roads. Sushilbabu Dhakal, the Director General of the Roads Department, said that he was unaware of the expenses for the latest operation. He said that the responsibility of the service was of the Department of Transport Management (DoTM).

DoTM Information Paneru Ishwari Dutta Paneru said that he was unaware of the expenses. He said that DoTM had not spent a single penny on the service.
