Gagan Thapa: Govt. is moving in backward direction by banning TikTok

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has commented on the government’s decision to ban TikTok.

Thapa said the government is moving in a backward direction by banning TikTok. ‘Social media needs to be monitored. But, it is not acceptable to ban TikTok in the name of monitoring,’ said Thapa.

Thapa said that the government intended to ban TikTok. He said,’ It is not about banning a social media platform. But, it is the intention of the government. It seems like the government is intended to suppress the expression and personal freedom. The government must correct this decision. There is no ifs and buts.’

The cabinet meeting, on Sunday, decided to ban TikTok.
