Kathmandu: Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has questioned the decision to shut down TikTok.
Sharma asked the Prime Minister, ‘Today TikTok shut down, tomorrow Facebook, someone might say democracy has damaged the country. Then, what will be the action? Will democracy be disrupted? Let’s be clear. The state must control cleanliness, not freedom.’
He said self-discipline and good governance keep socio-religious tolerance secured. Sharma said, ‘Let’s openly discuss the measures for monitoring social media platforms. Let’s find a logical conclusion and follow it.’
Similarly, Sharma suggested identifying the one spreading hatred. He said that it was not democratic to shut down TikTok. Sharma said TikTok is an entertainment platform, a digital marketing tool, and a medium to earn. He suggested a strict mechanism to control the people who are misusing it.
