According to MoHP, children between 6-59 months will be given Vitamin ‘A’ and  12-59 months will be given deworming medicine.

Kathmandu: The government has begun the Vitamin ‘A’ campaign for children.

The government, through 753 local government bodies, started the campaign on Friday. The campaign will conclude on 4th November. The campaign aims to immune children with Vitamin ‘A’ and deworming medicine.

According to the Ministry of  Health and Population (MoHP), children between 6-59 months will be given Vitamin ‘A’ and 12-59 months will be given deworming medicine.

MoHP has a target of providing Vitamin A to around 27 lakh children and deworming medicine to 24 lakh children. More than 52 thousand volunteers and more than 15 thousand health workers have been recruited for the campaign.

MoHP started the Vitamin ‘A’ campaign in 1993 A.D. The ministry added deworming medicine to the campaign in 2001 A.D.
