Karki became Koshi’s CM under Article 168(5) of the constitution. According to this article, there is a provision to take a vote of confidence within 30 days of appointment as Chief Minister. But due to political ups and downs in Koshi, CM Karki will be taking a vote of confidence on Wednesday.

Under 39 UML members who rebel against the party, the possibility of all leaders can be seen to cast their vote to CM Kadar. UML is ready to give a vote of confidence whereas Nepali Congress, CPN(Maoist Centre), UML (United Socialist), and Janta Samajwadi have also decided to give a vote of confidence but Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RP) has not decided yet.

CM Karki can receive a vote of confidence from all the parties. He had received votes from 39 Member of Parliament (MP) from UML for the designation. UML has confirmed giving a vote of confidence to Karki. Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), Unified Socialist, and Janata Samajwadi have also decided to give a vote of confidence to CM Karki. The ruling coalition is preparing to put UML in crisis by giving a vote of confidence to CM Karki. However, UML has warned to step back from the government led by CM Karki in case of the participation of CPN Maoists.

Koshi province would have to go for the midterm election if CM Karki fails to gain the vote of confidence.
