Kathmandu: President Ram Chandra Paudel has telephoned Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala to discuss the political development in Koshi province.
President Paudel requested Nepali Congress leader Dr. Koirala to make Kedar Karki step back from his candidacy for Koshi’s Chief Minister.
However, Dr. Koirala replied to President Paudel that he could not step back from his decision. He said that the party had discriminated against him and he took the decision to save the party.
Dr. Koirala and CPN (UML) have jointly supported the candidacy of Kedar Karki for Chief Minister of Koshi. The support is contrary to the coalition’s decision. The decision of Dr. Koirala has created a bustle in the Nepali Congress.
Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist, CPN Unified Socialist, and People’s Socialist Party( Janata Samajwadi Party) have supported CPN Maoist leader Indra Angbo in the post of Chief Minister.
According to the Chief Minister, both Karki and Angbo have claimed the position of Chief Minister with the support of 47-47 MPs.
