Stressful scenario after harmony rally in Nepalgunj, imposition of curfew

Kathmandu: The harmony rally has turned into a stressful one in Nepalgunj, Banke.

A harmony rally was initiated to reduce the religious conflict in Nepalgunj on Tuesday morning. But, the situation became out of control after a tire was burned in the rally.

All-party meeting in the District Administration Office Banke decided to organize a rally to maintain social harmony and religious tolerance. Although the rally appeared as harmony in the beginning, it appeared as a rally to showcase power. Then, it was directed to impose a curfew.

The harmony rally was organized to give the message that there was no malice between Hindus and Muslims. But, the situation turned stressful after some Hindu groups burned tires.

District Administration Office, Banke issued a notice on Monday, not to engage in any kind of activities that can affect the religious faith, spread any kind of religious malice, and not to write poking religions on social media platforms. It was also mentioned that strict action involved such restricted actions as per the Local Administration Act 2028.
