Inspector faces suspension for controversial comment of thrashing doctor; Formation of inquiry committee

Kathmandu: Inspector Madan Shrestha has faced suspension for bragging about thrashing a doctor.

Inspector Shrestha spoke those words while he was on duty at Manipal Teaching Hospital, Pokhara. He was on duty when a woman undergoing treatment died and her relatives physically assaulted doctors on Monday.

Inspector Shrestha has furiously stated that he had harshly thrashed the doctors while going through the crowd.  His controversial comment is being criticized from everywhere.

Police office Baidam Chief DSP Ved Joshi, who was the security in charge, has also been transferred to the District Police Office, Kaski during the investigation of the case.

According to Deputy Inspector General of Police Budhi Raj Gurung, the Head of Gandaki Province Police, Inspector Shrestha was suspended for investigation and DSP Ved Joshi was transferred.

A committee has been formed in coordination with Suresh Koirala, the Senior Superintendent of Police of the Provincial Office, to investigate the case.

Doctors demonstrated demanding safety in the working space in Maitighar on Tuesday.
