Gagan requests teachers not to shut down schools; Commitment to correct bill in parliament

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has requested the demonstrating teachers not to shut down the schools.

Thapa assured the demonstrating teachers of amending the school education bill in the parliament.

‘It is the responsibility and duty of the legislature once it is registered in the parliament. We will have a dialogue and discussion with everyone,’ Thapa said,’ We are committed to addressing the fair demands of the demonstrating teachers, local government, stakeholders, and tense parents and students.’

He has requested the Nepal Teachers’ Federation to stop the demonstration and believe in the procedures of the parliament to find and support a creative solution for the amendment. The negotiation between teachers’ representatives and the government failed to conclude. The demonstration of the teachers have entered the second day.
