Supreme Court issues mandate to appoint Hikmat Kumar Karki as Chief Minister

Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has issued a mandate to appoint Hikmat Kumar Karki as the Chief Minister of Koshi Province.

The full bench of Chief Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla, Dr. Kumar Chudal, and Nahakul Subedi issued such a mandate. The Supreme Court removed Uddhav Thapa from the post of Chief Minister.

The Court issued a mandate to appoint Karki as the Chief Minister as per Article 168 (3) of the Constitution.

UML leader of the Parliamentary Party Hikmat Karki went to the Supreme Court mentioning the constitutional provision of chairmanship of the ceremony having no right to cast a vote. Karki had requested to cancel the vote of confidence received by Thapa from the house. He requested a mandate from the court as per Article 168 (3) of the constitution.
