Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has proposed to form a high-profile parliamentary inquiry committee after the completion of CIB’s investigation.
PM Dahal placed his proposal in the meeting between nationally recognized parties, and the council of ministers in Singhadurbar on Sunday. Padam Giri, the Chief Whip of the CPN (UML), repeated PM Dahal’s proposal- CIB has been investigating at the present moment. The formation of a parliamentary committee would affect the investigation. So, after the completion of the investigation, a committee can be formed if needed.
UML has not agreed to the proposal. UML has demanded the formation of the committee now. Chief Whip Giri said, ‘We want the committee to be formed now. We won’t back off from this. Our stand is in the favor of the country and the people.’
UML has been obstructing the house sessions and demanding the formation of a high-profile inquiry committee in the gold smuggling scandal since July 26.
