Trouble between Deputy Mayor and employees; Public deprived of service

Janakpurdham: The official work of the municipality has been halted with the demonstration of the employees in Gaushala Municipality, Mohattari.

People seeking services including recommendation letters from the municipality have been deprived of the services for four days. Service seekers have complained about the work relating to the bank being affected and being unable to do billing relating to the Malpot office.

One service seeker complained that official works like registration of incidents, different recommendations, buying-selling of lands, and social security fund have been obstructed with the demonstration of the employees.

Deputy Mayor Renu Kumari Mahato has been accused of misbehaving with Revenue Branch’s Nayab Subba Dipendra Yadav in the working space on Monday. The employees have been continuing the strike demanding a fair investigation regarding the incident.

The employees have been wearing a black band and sloganeering against Deputy Mayor. According to the service seekers, the service of the municipality including all the twelve wards has been affected.

On Monday afternoon, the employees even issued a statement declaring an indefinite protest demanding the condemnation of misconduct and action against the perpetrators in the incident.

The demonstrators even submitted a memorandum to the Chief District Officer demanding the guarantee of security, investigation of the incident, as well as action against the Deputy Mayor. Assistant District Officer said that the memorandum was submitted to the office demanding appropriate action.

Deputy Mayor Mahato has rebutted the accusation of being malicious and planned. She questioned, ‘What is the evidence and basis of the accusation? I had asked for the revenue-related file. What was the reason for not submitting the revenue-related file to me?’

Mahato said that the tender had been assigned without providing any information to her. She questioned, ‘Is asking for a file relating to revenue a misbehavior?’

Nayab Subba Yadav accepted Deputy Mayor asking for files relating to the market tender and tender assigned through online procedures. He said that he was misbehaved after failing to submit the file.
