Senior Member Gayananda Mandal becomes State Minister

Kathmandu: The coalition has used tactics to make Chief Minister Uddhav Thapa gain the vote of confidence.

The coalition has made the senior member Gayananda Mandal Minister of State for Industry, Agriculture and Coperatives to make it easier for Thapa to gain the vote of confidence.

Koshi Province lacks Speaker. Srijana Danuwar, from UML., is the Deputy Speaker of the Koshi Province. Thapa became the Chief Minister on 1^st August (Shrawan 16). Thapa must gain a vote of confidence within 30 days to remain in the position. Thapa had called the province Assembly meeting on Bhadra 1 (18^th August).

If the deputy speaker resigns, the senior member Mandal would have to conduct the Province Assembly. If Mandal becomes the chairperson of the meeting, then Chief Minister Thapa would not gain the vote of confidence.

The coalition has made Mandal State minister to make the senior member of UML the chairperson of the Assembly if Deputy Speaker Danuwar resigns.
