Melting of seized gold; Prediction of weight to decrease

Kathmandu: The seized gold inside the brake shoe is being melted.

Thaneshwor Aacharya, the Mint (Takshar) Division Head, said that the gold was being melted in the presence of stakeholders of the Nepal Rastra Bank and security personnel.

The gold was separated from the brake shoe yesterday. The separated gold from the brake shoe weighed 60 kilos 789 grams. There is a prediction that the gold will be weighed even less after melting.

Acharya said that the process of measuring the gold would be initiated after the melting of the gold. It will take a few days for that. Then the actual quantity and quality would be finalized.

Department of Revenue Investigation had seized 155 kilos of ‘Brake Shoe’ on 19^th July. Then it was placed in the Mint Division.
