Kathmandu: National Association of Rural Municipalities in Nepal (NARMIN) has expressed dissatisfaction with some provisions of the education bill going to be tabled in the parliament by the government.
The two-day meeting of the Association held in Bhaktapur on August 4 expressed dissatisfaction with some of the provisions of the bill.
The provisions including reestablishing the District Education Office, and appointing the principal by the District Education Office are against the sentiments of federalism, claimed Association Chairperson Laxmi Devi Pandey.
She blamed the preparing the bill by the government without discussing it with them even though it is a matter of direct concern to local governments proving that the federal government has tried to snatch the rights of local governments.
Pandey mentioned that tabling of the Bill to amend and unify the laws related to School Education, 2080 in the Parliament was positive A press release issued by the Association after the meeting reads, ‘Some of the provisions of the bill having the nature of challenging the federal system and interfering the rights of the local government. We urge lawmakers to pass the bill with revision. We also request all bodies concerned to exert pressure for making the federal system-friendly laws.’
