Kathmandu: The government has decided not to form any commission for investigating the gold smuggling scandal.

The government came up with the conclusion that the formation of another commission for the investigation would affect the ongoing progress of the Department of Revenue Investigation.

Communications Minister and Government Spokesperson Rekha Sharma said that the government would investigate the investigation.

Minister Sharma said, ‘Department of Revenue Investigation, under the Prime Minister’s Office, has seized a huge quantity of gold. Even a few people have been arrested with the progress of the case. The investigation is going ahead progressively.’

She said that discussions were going on with the opposition CPN (UML) to clear the obstruction to the functioning of the House of Representatives. CPN (UML) has been obstructing the HoR meeting demanding the formation of a high-level commission for the investigation of the case.
