Thapa becomes Chief Minister for second time

Biratnagar: Uddhav Thapa has been reappointed as the Chief Minister of Koshi Province.

Thapa has been appointed for the same post for the second time within the span of 26 days. He was appointed as the Chief Minister on 16th July (Asar 31).

On the 21st day of his tenure, the Supreme Court canceled his appointment. Then, Province Head Parshuram Khapung asked the Provincial Assembly members to claim the designation of the Chief Minister, who can gain the majority of two or more two political parties within 5 pm, Shrawan 16.

The Supreme Court (SC) allotted one week to form a united government following Clause 2 of Article 168 of the Constitution of Nepal.

Speaker Baburam Gautam resigned from his post to support the claim of Thapa.
