Police arrest Chinese citizen from TIA

Kathmandu: Police have arrested another person in the busted gold smuggling scandal.

Police arrested Chinese citizen Ziguang Lin from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Thursday afternoon. Police arrested Lin from the airport, who was trying to flee to China through Tibet Air.

The airport police arrested Lin after receiving the information from the Department of Immigration. The Revenue Investigation Department informed the Department of Immigration. With this arrest, the total number of the arrested people in the case has reached seven.

Police arrested two people on Wednesday and four people on Thursday. Ram Kumar Bhujel and Dilip Bhujel from Dolakha, harka Raj Rai from Bhojpur, Indian citizen Thapten Chhiring, Agent Rajan Rai, and taxi driver Ashok Lama were the six arrested people.

The Department had found the involvement of a taxi with number plate Ba 2 Cha 2324. The Department continued the special operation after the gold reached the taxi after clearance from the custom. The gold was busted when it was being loaded into the taxi.
