I’d rather quit government than spare corrupt people: PM Dahal

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that he would rather quit the government than spare the corrupt people.

Addressing a programme on Wednesday morning, PM Dahal admitted that he is facing political pressure as a result of the opening and investigation of big corruption cases. Despite the growing pressure, the campaign against corruption will continue in the days to come, he added.

Responding to a query from journalists whether the government would slacken its stance in the fake Bhutanese refugee case, Prachanda said there should not be any doubt that the guilty ones will be spared.

“There is a misconception that the corrupt will be spared to protect the government. We are not in favour of giving immunity to anyone,’ Prachanda said, ‘I’d rather quit government than spare the corrupt ones. Our campaign against corruption and for good governance will continue. No one should doubt this.’

Prime Minister Dahal also alleged that the CPN-UML has been apprehensive about the good works of the government and carrying out unruly activities from the House to streets. Those who do not support government’s campaign against corruption will be wiped out by people, he warned.

‘The newly emerged parties, including the main opposition party, are creating hurdles everywhere as they could not tolerate the good works by the government’, Dahal added, ‘But their activities in the House and streets have only uncovered their true nature.’
