‘PM returned riding on buffalo’ created chaos in HoR meeting!

Kathmandu:  Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)’s Member of Parliament Shisir Khanal’s words have created chaos in the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting today.

Khanal said, ‘We all thought that Prime Minister would land in Pokhara Airport, which he had inaugurated while returning to Nepal from India. Unfortunately, there are rumors of him returning “Bhaisi Chadera”(riding on Buffalo).’

The Maoist MPs immediately stood up and started hitting the table, when Khanal had still not concluded his words.

The Chief Whip Hitraj Khanal demanded to remove the words ‘Bhaisai Chadera (Riding on Buffalo)’ from the record. Immediately, the major opposition party CPN (UML) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) stood in favor of Khanal and started raising their voice.

Then, Speaker Devraj Ghimire continuously kept repeating  ‘Speak one by one, Sit Down. There is no provision for speaking all at once, anywhere. Even it does not listen.’ But UML, RSP, and RPP did not step back from protesting.

Likewise, as per the demand of Pandey, Speaker Ghimire demanded to erase the words of Khanal from the record. Again, the MPs of the three political parties started shouting. During the process, Raghuji Panta got time to share his words. Panta demanded words related to Buffalo previously used by PM Dahal must also be erased.

In the previous address in the parliament, PM Dahal was sad that he was portrayed as riding on buffalo. Panta demanded that the word used both times must be erased as the use of the word used by PM Dahal and MP Khanal was the same.

This resulted, in Speaker Ghimire saying, ‘Erase the word related to Buffalo irrespective of who has spoken it.’ After a few discussions, Ghimire directed to only erase (remove) the words of Khanal as PM Dahal has used those words in different contexts.

Althpough the parliament smoothly after the chaos, PM Dahal’s clarification was halted . PM Dahal was answering the arguments of the MPs. But due to repeated protest from the MPS, Speaker Ghimire has given time to various MPs to share their opposing thoughts.
