Bhandari proposes 2 demands in parliament- ‘Govt. must help burned victims, make curriculum relating to ways of lighting gas’

Kathmandu: Member of Parliament Chandra Bhandari has addressed the meeting regarding the policies and programs for the fiscal year 2080-81.

Bhandari attended the parliamentary meeting, for the first time after returning back from treatment in India, on Wednesday.

The house of Bhandari caught fire on 3rd Falgun, 2079. Bhandari and his mother were in the house when the cooking gas cylinder blasted. The same night, Bhandari was rushed to Kritipur Burn Hospital.

He was taken to the National Skin Burn Center on 4th Falgun. He returned to Nepal on 17th Falgun. But his mother passed away in the incident.

Bhandari shared his dreadful experience during the recovery period and proposed two demands

1.Proposed government to help the people injured in fire accidents:

Bhandari drew the attention of the government to help the victims of fire accidents. He said, ‘Government must help the victims who have burned in the fire accident.’

Bhandari shared the tremendous amount of struggles behind the pain of burning. He added, ‘Poor people are prone to this. Most of them are from remote areas. They are financially deprived. We must help such victims like we have been helping the kidney and cancer patients.’

2. Let’s make a curriculum to teach the proper way of lighting gas and electricity

Bhandari suggested the need of including the curriculum relating to the process of lighting gas. He said, ‘We need to develop a curriculum to incorporate common tasks like crossing roads, lighting the gas, electricity, road cross, etc. At least 7 years old person must have that knowledge. On the other hand, there is the availability of automatic regulators. Let’s make a law to make such regulators a compulsion.’
