Rain with gusty wind likely on Wednesday and Thursday

Kathmandu: There is a possibility of rain across the country on Wednesday and Thursday due to the new weather system entering Nepal.

The new weather system is likely to cause heavy rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday. Climate expert Dr. Dharma Raj Upreti said that there is a possibility of gusty wind and rain on Wednesday and Thursday due to the combined influence of the westerly wind and moist air from the Arabian Sea.

According to Upreti, there is a possibility of windstorm, lightning and hailstorm. He said that moist air entering from the far-western region on May 24 is likely to spread across the country and have an impact for two days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has already issued an alert from Rajasthan to Uttarakhand on May 24 and 25. He also suggested that Nepal should remain on alert.

As per the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the weather across the country is partly to generally cloudy today. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at some places of Koshi Province, Madesh Province, Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province and at one or two places of rest of the provinces.

Tonight, there will be partly to generally cloudy in the hilly areas and partly cloudy to mainly fair in rest of the country. Light rain or thunder and lightning is likely to occur at a few places of hilly regions of Koshi Province, Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province and at one or two places of Madesh Province and Lumbini Province.
